Hi folks,

At the moment I run a large Volvo estate car so can transport my DB in it's semi rigid case on it's back. I've had no problems with this so far. I may need to change to a smaller car where I would have to put the bass in a soft case and on it's side. Other than being careful no to knock the bridge am I likely to run into any problems?

Thnks

Morning,

As long as your careful you'll be fine. Mrs Jimryan has a Hyundai i20 and my upright fits quite snug going between the front seats with the scroll over my shoulder.

I've transported mine in a Nissan Micra so you'll be fine.
I put some padding under the upper bout to make sure that the scroll was elevated and not taking any of the weight of the bass. It's also a good idea to pack some items either side of the bass so that it doesn't roll onto its back when you go round a corner.

I'm amazed that a DB can go into a Micra. Thanks for the info.

No matter how many times I watch this, I still can't believe it's real.

I had to use my daughter's Seat Arosa for a gig once.
I had my doublebass, PJB Suitcase, PJB 4b cab, aluminium 'hop up' bench, and a case full of leads and stuff. No problem.
You'd be surprised what you can fit a doublebass into when you have to.

There's a whole thread on this. Started with jazzyv asking if a DB would fit in his BMW 7 series and ending with us all agreeing a DB will fit in anything. Got my DB, stool, music stand in my skoda citigo yesterday. Reckon I can fit an electric bass and my PJB flightcase amp in at the same time!!
