The Yamaha BB mega-thread

Lot of great new colours and models in the Yamaha Revstar range, but nothing new with the basses. A pity.  Still like my newly acquired teal BB 435 though :)

Did see a post at talkbass mentioning a new Billy Sheehan model with roasted maple neck. Wouldn't mind having roasted maple neck options in the BB range.

I’d love to see some of the Revstar colours make their way onto the basses. My absolute favourite colour in the range being “Steel Rust”

And yes, that is an anodised aluminium pickguard.

The racing stripe is very cool design feature.. Something Yamaha should also use on their basses :)

I think I'm getting a Revstar as well :)

Just been playing the white 1100s.

Theyre going nowhere. The 434 would have to be mind blowing love at first sight stuff to cost me either of the 1100’s.

Have you thought about setting up one of your 1100s up BEAD so they are doing different things? And that'll give you some proper low end "on tap" at the same time? :)

One of my BC mates told me that he's going to be doing exactly that with his prospective Yammy purchase, and I must 'fess I thought "what a bloo*dy good idea!"

It was me...

I may do a cull later this year and gather some funds for other things so effectively keep a EADG 4 string and BEAD 4 string and shift everything else. Might not... but trying to prepare in advance and I know the BEAD thing works well for me and my style of playing - basic :)

I genuinely wouldn’t use the one in BEAD, and I’ve just discovered that the passive mode works without battery...so no “I need a backup” excuse...

Just got a battery for my scales...

weighed all the bb’s.

I'll play.

BB800 1977 9.2lbs

BBNE2LTD 2011 10.4lbs

Al Krow's is probably heavier with all that gold plate bling.

Ha ha, predictive text changed Al Krow's to Al Knows - should probably keep that quiet.

As far as the pick guards are concerned, no thanks. If you're rocking the BB1200 vibe, you need a clear one, but that won't play so well with the double-sided tape.

Al knows the weight of his two Yammys:

2017 BB1025 9.7lbs

2016 BBNE2 White (with gold bling) 10.4lbs

I'll be asking for a refund regarding the gold bling 'cos it's clearly not 24 carat, hypercarrots, or any form of carrots...

Contemplating changing the hardware from silver to gold.....

Good man! Always good to have more company in the 'questionable taste' / bling club!  😄

Although must admit I don't take any anti-bling comments seriously from folk who pay extra to have their basses made to look like crap, so they can pretend to have 'mojo'.

Guys you've either got mojo in the way you play your bass or you haven't. How your bass looks won't change that a bit, I'm afraid... 😎

I quite like the babicz bridge specifically the newer Z bridge but if you palm mute a lot the cams might not allow you to do that. I had one of the FCH Babicz bridges  on a jazz bass and it was super easy to install and set up. A really solid design but like I say the way the cams work it might not facilitate palm muting but it does mean you can really fine tune your strings height.

Not Hipshot Kickass then? For a Yamaha anyway.

I just think the curved end plate of the Vintage would complement the BBs body shape. The Kickass is rather agricultural looking xD but I’m sure will look great on some basses.
