The 1024x I had was a beauty - I absolutely regret not keeping it - but I will say, the rough and ready sound of the 424/414 suits me better - the extra refinement of the 1024/2024 would be a waste on my skill set - like giving fine wine and caviar to a chimpanzee. AndyTravis Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Apologies @DarylClayton has a beautiful 2024x at £1500 @azumi has a 2024 at £1500 Both worth every penny - not much will get close at that money for a do it all bass… there’s a lovely looking bbp34 at £900 which is a great (and tempting) price 2 Quote

AndyTravis Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Red all night tonight - was due new strings for 5 basses and “next day” obviously means “not within 3 days…” but it seems the strings I kept as spares to put on the red one still had enough snap for one rehearsal… 7 Quote
TheGreek Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 BB615 just arrived ...it's nasty outside so I'll wait till the weather clears up before getting some photos done.. I contacted Yamaha customer service about the truss rod issue. Their rep spoke to their luthier who confirmed a couple of washers would resolve the issue and they're putting some in the post. 2 Quote
such Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Just had this reminded of by youtube, with a 735a in rather competent hands. 4 Quote
Al Krow Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 If you don't have 30 mins to spare, then you could do worse than dive in at 17.35 to hear a classic Yammy BB "punchy growl" on the 735A on @such's video link. Great tone! 2 Quote

Al Krow Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 I did think about white knobs. But the black work also well with the fretboard and pups, and it's a faff to remove and replace the knobs (unless your Andy T, in which case it's a doddle!). Don't you need a special tool to extract your knobs? (Ooh er... missus!) 😁 Quote
