Is there much difference between these two Andy

To my mind - not enough to justify the huge gulf in price - I’m pretty sure the 1024 was about £600/£700 new and the 2024 was about £2000…

the 2024’s I played never disappointed but also never made me giddy…at current used prices though (think there’s a nice sunburst one about £1500) you’d be very hard pressed to get better.

The 1024x I had was a beauty - I absolutely regret not keeping it - but I will say, the rough and ready sound of the 424/414 suits me better - the extra refinement of the 1024/2024 would be a waste on my skill set - like giving fine wine and caviar to a chimpanzee.

Apologies

@DarylClayton has a beautiful 2024x at £1500

@azumi has a 2024 at £1500

Both worth every penny - not much will get close at that money for a do it all bass…

there’s a lovely looking bbp34 at £900 which is a great (and tempting) price

There’s a 424x for sale at the moment, on eBay, I’ve got my eye on a few other basses otherwise I’d probably get it

Red all night tonight - was due new strings for 5 basses and “next day” obviously means “not within 3 days…” but it seems the strings I kept as spares to put on the red one still had enough snap for one rehearsal…

BB615 just arrived ...it's nasty outside so I'll wait till the weather clears up before getting some photos done..

I contacted Yamaha customer service about the truss rod issue. Their rep spoke to their luthier who confirmed a couple of washers would resolve the issue and they're putting some in the post.

If you don't have 30 mins to spare, then you could do worse than dive in at 17.35 to hear a classic Yammy BB "punchy growl" on the 735A on @such's video link. Great tone!

Well I am now down from these 4 beauties (and a couple of fantastic 425s which came and went along the way), following the departure of my lovely NE2 into appreciative new hands today 😢

I did think about white knobs. But the black work also well with the fretboard and pups, and it's a faff to remove and replace the knobs (unless your Andy T, in which case it's a doddle!).

Don't you need a special tool to extract your knobs? (Ooh er... missus!) 😁
