Yes a BB3000 reissue would be the thing of dreams but I don't think that will be on the cards 😔 It will be interesting to see what Yamaha has planned for 2025

Someone in retail told me that when it comes to new models,Yamaha work in cycles. The previous BB range was in production for seven years. The current range which replaced it has now been in production well over seven years.  Also, the fact that Yamaha has introduced new colours for the P34 suggests they want to get rid of their stockpile of parts for that model in preparation for it being discontinued.

 

Nothing that definite, it must be said, that's why I said it's just a whisper. However, this chap is in regular contact with the Yamaha reps ect, so he might know more than he's letting on. He has always known what he is talking about in the past.

 

Regarding new models, I would love to see a BB3000 but with the pickups and bridge from the BB2024. That would be a mouth-watering prospect. Very unlikely to happen though, unless Yamaha is tapping into my imagination.

I wrote to Yamaha over a year ago to suggest they capitalize on the Revstar and make a short scale bass version, pointed out the success of the JMJ and Joe Dart ss etc.. got a polite reply from the European distributor, I doubt the suggestion made it to Japan though

This arrived about an hour ago. Keeper. Just put flats on it. Amazing tone, sustain, intonation, playability- yep 👍 well done Yamaha

The BBP34 passed its audition with the band. Had to turn the amp down. Noisy jazz pup but blended in was great and easy to change down the line. So easy to play. Wore thinner strap and after 3 hours started to feel it. But my wide strap will sort it. Balance on strap great. Did I say so easy to play? Well it was. Keeper.

First gig for the BBP and yep digging it At first out of the box, felt the BBP to be a bit soulless but totally got over that last night. Great to go from P bass to zingy jazz -  my fender jazz has other qualities but can’t see it getting played ahead of the Yam at the moment

Ive decided to get back into the Yamaha camp. Ive had a very large cull of gear recently, and after selling my sire 5s, i was without a 5 string. Im mostly a 4 string player, but like to have a decent 5, as ive owned BB 424/425 and 1024/1025x Yamaha was an obvious choice, so i decided to try the newer BB435

 

Really surprised how light it is and how slim/flat the neck is, so easy to play, i love the painted headstock and the V/V/T controls. Im not sure on the tone, theyre supposed to be brighter than the originals, but sound quite muffled, although ive nit tried it with my rig yet.

 

A slight issue im having is this particular bass while bought used had pretty much been untouched. The action is far too low, and due to wrist issues ivehad to go to 125- 40 gauge, but the neck is straight and the truss rod maxxed, so i cant raise the action (the saddles are also very high) ive ordered a heavier gauge string, so hopefully will put a bit more bow in the neck. 

I think once i can sort it, itll he a lovely bass (a tort guard will be on the works too)

Sounds like you want to loosen the truss rod, no? If it’s maxed it’s tightened fully, usually. Loosen it to allow the strings to pull it forward slightly more.

No its fully loosened (maxed is wrong 😊) and wont move, but the neck is completly flat (no bow) so the lighter strings are too low (bridge saddles up full too) ive bought some heavier strings to put more tension on the neck.

If it's a two-way truss rod you can just keep turning beyond the "fully loosened" bit until it starts to work the other way. You can use the truss rod to give it more forward bow too

Actually my good friend @AndyTravis said the same thing, it stopped moving and i thought that was as far as itll go.

Dropped by GuitarGuitar on my lunch and they had both new finishes in. Think the Indigo doesn't pop as much as I expected, but the red is cool. Still had stock of the old colours too so great to have more of a choice.

Looks like the red is the same as the BBPH. If it is then it's far nicer in real life than photos, real nice depth to it.

I quite like the indigo - it's subtle. I've owned a couple of red instruments and it doesn't quite work for me for reasons I don't fully understand.

New look on my 424. I recently bought a pickguard and a controle plate for my other 424 and made an "X" version out of it. This one was black too like it's brother. 

A new string tree is the only thing I wanted to improve.

I like the new red BB! My biggest wishes for the future generations: lighter weight (maybe chambered like the new Yamaha guitars) and perhaps even more stripped down versions with only the P pickup.
