The Yamaha BB mega-thread

BB1024x is here and I love it, head off on holiday tomorrow night so barely get any time to get stuck in but from the few noodles it seems like a keeper👌

 

I was worried about the neck profile but its nice, noticeably more chunky than my other basses but super comfy.

About to buy a BB435 but can’t decide between the Teal Blue or Black!

 

Planning to make it a project workhorse bass. Change to gold hardwares

BB Owners, what gig bags are you using? I have this BB435 from PMT coming in next week, and I'm looking for a nice gig bag. Just looking for ideas what everyone uses. No hard case please!

Although that's into Mono territory (a place I refuse to visit because it's too damn much for a bloody gigbag), I say save your pennies - one of the many gigbags I use with my BB1200 is a TGI Extreme Series such as found here - https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/tgi-gigbag-bass-guitar-extreme-series/ (other stockists are available), it's well padded, can fit A4 paper in the front pocket and it's around £50-60.

And if you want MORE padding, there's a TGI Ultimate Series, which is around £120ish.

Thanks! I'll check it out! tbh if it has a nice padding, that's more than enough for me. Although I've had a mono before, I find them too expensive after selling most if my gear and coming back again. I'm just being practical right now where I can get a nice padded gig bag where I wont have to spend 200 quid.

 

Any other brands for me to check, send them over here.

I suppose you have to ask yourself what you'll be doing with the bag, just a bit of protection in the car/public transport or being thrown in the back of the band van with all the other gear?

If it's just in the back of the car, everyday type protection then I'd just get something like the TGI Extreme mentioned above. Or being that's it's a Yamaha, a Yamaha gig bag. The standard ones that come with their basses are really nice bags (as has been said on your Facebook post), good level of padding and plenty of pockets. This one on eBay looks like a different material to the ones that came with my basses but the design is the same so I'd guess it's just a newer version. 

To be honest, if you feel you need more protection than this sort of bag then you probably need to be looking at hard cases.
