MrDinsdale Posted April 3 Posted April 3 BB1024x is here and I love it, head off on holiday tomorrow night so barely get any time to get stuck in but from the few noodles it seems like a keeper👌 I was worried about the neck profile but its nice, noticeably more chunky than my other basses but super comfy. 5 Quote
Chadu25 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) About to buy a BB435 but can’t decide between the Teal Blue or Black! Planning to make it a project workhorse bass. Change to gold hardwares Edited April 4 by Chadu25 1 Quote
Chadu25 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 (edited) BB Owners, what gig bags are you using? I have this BB435 from PMT coming in next week, and I'm looking for a nice gig bag. Just looking for ideas what everyone uses. No hard case please! Edited April 4 by Chadu25 Quote

neepheid Posted April 4 Posted April 4 4 minutes ago, Chadu25 said: 200 quid max Although that's into Mono territory (a place I refuse to visit because it's too damn much for a bloody gigbag), I say save your pennies - one of the many gigbags I use with my BB1200 is a TGI Extreme Series such as found here - https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/tgi-gigbag-bass-guitar-extreme-series/ (other stockists are available), it's well padded, can fit A4 paper in the front pocket and it's around £50-60. Quote
neepheid Posted April 4 Posted April 4 And if you want MORE padding, there's a TGI Ultimate Series, which is around £120ish. Quote
Chadu25 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 (edited) Thanks! I'll check it out! tbh if it has a nice padding, that's more than enough for me. Although I've had a mono before, I find them too expensive after selling most if my gear and coming back again. I'm just being practical right now where I can get a nice padded gig bag where I wont have to spend 200 quid. Any other brands for me to check, send them over here. cheers! Sean Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I have heard good things about this https://www.thomann.co.uk/thomann_safecase_80_e_bass_bag.htm?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwzMi_BhACEiwAX4YZUNTh_eKZopah680QlKXktp3HEJUqXjEUPc00DgYhrn3wgqkLj-jiPRoCf4YQAvD_BwE Mono Vertigo is the ultimate if you can find one used. This meant for @Chadu25 I suppose you have to ask yourself what you'll be doing with the bag, just a bit of protection in the car/public transport or being thrown in the back of the band van with all the other gear? If it's just in the back of the car, everyday type protection then I'd just get something like the TGI Extreme mentioned above. Or being that's it's a Yamaha, a Yamaha gig bag. The standard ones that come with their basses are really nice bags (as has been said on your Facebook post), good level of padding and plenty of pockets. This one on eBay looks like a different material to the ones that came with my basses but the design is the same so I'd guess it's just a newer version. To be honest, if you feel you need more protection than this sort of bag then you probably need to be looking at hard cases. Edited April 6 by Maude 1 Quote
RogsR35Uk Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I have a BB400S fretless bought in the mid 80s. I really ought to use it more! Quote

Chadu25 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) NBD! This thing just arrived today. Right out of the box, it feels and sounds amazing. Only thing I need to do is set it up according to my taste. Action is too low and there are couple of fret edges but not too sharp that hinders your playing. Also, it came shielded. No hum noise from the J! Never had or liked a black bass ever but this one became an exception. I plan to change the hardware to gold in the future for aesthetic purpose. The stock pickups really sounds amazing so I'm keeping that! Overall, happy with the bass! Quickie soundclips here. andy67 Posted April 9 Posted April 9 There are two different pix of the heel truss rod. I’m steering clear of that one. Quote

Chadu25 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 What flats are you guys using on your 5 string BB? I’ve only tried a La Bella 760fs on a 4 string Pbass but have no idea what’s it gonna be like with a 5er. Any experiences with it or feel free to reco other string options. Ideally I want the feel and thumpy sound of flats so no rounds for me. Quote

A different string is the White Copper Tapes from La Bella that I'm tempted to put on the BB414 I just got - a bit different to flats but definitely have less top end that rounds Quote

The Labella ones, I've read they sound too muddy on the low B which is why I'm constantly reading reviews and watching demos. Planning to install them on my BB435 which I recently acquired. Quote
BassApprentice Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Today has been a bit of trainwreck...so decided to change the strings on the new bass and give it a bit of test. Welp. 4 Quote
Maude Posted April 11 Posted April 11 What a pain! Those LaBella white tapes are really chunky. I had to file the nut of the bass I had them. Quote
