The purple looks great, but I would to see it alongside the actual shade of the fretboard, to check they're happy with each other.

The green would be even better if it were a slightly deeper, more husky shade.

The blue is nice but if it had a tiny bit more grey to it (farrowandballstyle) .... yum

Edit: our posts crossed in the mail.

I've remembered the dark metallic green that was in the back of my mind - Dingwall posted on TB sometime last year.

As the lacquer guy writes...red is always difficult to picture on a picture..😂
Important info...the work is not done completely on this pic.

That Dingwall sherwood green is class!

And just think how much better it would be on a BB, with no huge black pickguard cramping its style!

Who's 6000 posts? both of us are past that

Indeed we are!

I was actually referring to all the contributors to this 4 year old thread, which seems to be as popular as ever. I guess it's a simple testimony to just what great basses these Yamaha BBs are 😊

Anyone on here win the auction on the BB425 with the broken truss rod?

I think it sold for about £130, so not the bargain I'd hoped it would be. I'm sure @Andyjr1515 (or your local luthier) could have removed the fretboard and replaced the offending part before making good. Whether at £130 plus this cost it was cost effective we'll never know.

As somebody mentioned, other bargains do come up..

I bid £135 but got beaten by a bid of £142. My plan was to put the neck off my Tobacco Burst BB425X on it and turn it around for a quick profit leaving me time to remove the fretboard of the damaged neck and replace the trussrod

So the misty green BB1000ma arrived. I think the one with the new finish will be ready next weak. I will post a new group hug of the basses when they gather!
