Yup that Gotoh bridge definitely adds something. No question!

Looking like it could become "the standard" for bridge upgrades on 424s.

Btw - I thought you were a die hard 414 fan, have you switched allegiance to the the 2s?

I really like my 414. Slightly flatter neck profile.

Just love the pickups (the same models in both basses).

And the 424x had the funky plate action going on.

only liked them in red and white, so that’s me sorted…

Now…the 350f dilemma needs to be resolved 🤦🏻‍♂️

What's the difference? I'm assuming the number of pick ups.

Neck construction (5 piece nato/maple on 424 vs 1 piece maple on 414)

Dual action truss Rod on 424’s single on 414 - no idea why on a modern ish bass…

Through body stringing on 424’s and only top load on 414.

that’s about it…

I do love the fact that Yamaha have laminate neck construction even in their (fantastic) work horse bases.

So - what’s surprising is that their listed condition as fair.

A little dirty, but no dings or marks.

Anyhow…what’s not ace is DHL/UKMail

”delivered” as in…left in the garden.

Luckily, my neighbour (guitarist and drummer) was working from home…

Doing customer service for a big company whose deliveries are handled exclusively by Hermes, I can't say I find this extreme 🤔

Yeah.

I think it’s the fact it was marked as “signed for by Travis…” when no such thing happened.

Luckily, it’s a nice enough area and I have neighbours who are lovely and work from home.

Nice. Although custom painted-to-match scratchplates, red for the white one and white for the red one, would be creepily cool, like those parents who dress all their kids up in the same outfit.

Red tort and cream pearloid, perfect yes yes yes

Apologies if my search-foo is lacking,  but is there a starting point for a 5 string BB 425 setup. Relief, action nut height etc? in mm please :) Seems about right but I'm having to dig in a bit more than I'd like to get fret growl.

I found the truss Rod on the 424/425 to be a bit hyper responsive to adjustment, unlike the 414…

I’d adjust the rod 1/8th a turn and wait 24hrs to see what that does - might just remove that relief a tad…

That’s definitely going to be done.

I have one experiment to conduct first…having ogled a few atelier z basses recently

Is this going to be an expensive experiment that results in you buying a AtelierZ bass, or is it going to be a clear pg?
