Nice little difference between the placings of the two Reverse Ps

The more neckward one has a bridge pickup to balance it. Perfect :)

Maybe a question for Trav - I’m guessing thr BBPH is the same placement as his old bb1100s … so when abouts did the bb line move the neck pickup forward a bit?

Dunno. And I didn’t measure. The 1100s is regular p placement too - not reversed.

think the 1000/1200 are where the reverse P link comes from - the really old (late 70’s/Early 80’s) ones.

The bb300 being an anomalous model for the mid 80’s, and the 350f

The 450 (passive 1100s) is regular P setup too.

Also, the BB’s are usually 21 frets - so maybe that has an overall impact on placement? Just speculation.

The non-BBPH's Reverse P is a custom DIY reversal and placement done by @Maude .....

These things don't just happen by mistake you know. 😉

Alright maybe they do. 😁

The 424x has its reverse P closer to the neck because I did the conversion.

It had to move neckwards so that the scratchplate could accommodate the pickup surround without looking odd.

I could've made the scratchplate slightly more bulbous around that curve and it wouldn't have been obvious, but instead opted to put bass side almost where it normally is, and the treble side well towards the neck for a really full treble sound, as I always favour neck pickups.

Plus as @Ricky Riolipoints out, the bridge pickup mixed in puts a lovely clarity boost back in if needed.

There's a natural BB1000 with that lovely shaped scratchplate on Reverb at the moment.

I really like that shape plate.

Do the medium scale versions eg BB-VIs want mentioning?

I have put them - I know it’s not right, so I guessed about 4, once the list is running - we could denote p/pj/jj/active passive etc.

some anomalies though - I’ve seen 1 or 2 400’s with 800 style pickguards (probably aftermarket) and a 400 which I now think was a 1600 body with a 400 neck.

just in case people start googling images.

Do we know how many BBPHs were made, and how many were sold in the UK?

Just out of interest.

5 signed and I don’t actually know.

i do know if we spoke to fender when we were in the shop, we could order 250 of something from the Mexican factory.

I’d say 20 dealer sign up, 5/10 pieces each.

100-200 made, sorry…thinking on, worldwide.

erm. 500-1000?

Apparently 357 BBPH have been made

I know it was a while but do you have any source for this?

I've seen all sorts of numbers like only fifteen in America.

I dealt with the sellers wife today when I bought mine, we were chatting and she said that I'm one of only 75 with that bass now. Make of that what you will. Maybe the seller had heard only 75 were sold in the UK, or maybe he told his wife how 'limited' they were to get approval on the purchase.

It doesn't really matter about numbers, it would just be nice to know.

I think I remember reading 370-ish, but that could easily just have been a bs number that TB turned into a known fact.

I still can't get over how few there were, how soon it was all over. Seems scarcely worth his while.

Only 14 made for USA.

so I’m saying 500 worldwide

The distribution was bizarre, I think Canada got as many as the US

That's kind of what put me off in the beginning. The very small run where they all get snapped up, then a year later they release a second massive wave of them, making second hand prices plummet. Then would've been the time to buy.

But it seems that the first run is all there'll be.

All trace of it was deleted from their website a few months ago, so surely you're right. All a bit odd.

Don’t talk to me about last bloody gasp purchases.

My Friday experience was bizarre.

So I bought a brand new, boxed BBPH yesterday.

Then I didn’t.

That was a lot of excitement and disappointment all in one brief moment.

I’ve asked Mrs Travis for help understanding this conflict of emotions as that’s what going to bed with me is like.

This.

So what happened?

How come there's still brand new boxed ones kicking around?

Well.

I’m mates with a local dealership manager.

”Trav, you still after a BBPH? One has turned up at our warehouse, the last one we’ll ever see, last one in the UK - be here on Tuesday if you want it”

”yup, deposit?”

”yup”

*pay deposit*

”All yours pal!”

“WAHOO!”

That was about 12.15

and at 14.29

”Trav…erm…yeah…warehouse f*cked up. Booked a customer repair in as new stock…there’s no BBPH, sorry…”

”Mint”

”yeah, refund?”

”yeah”.
