Barking Spiders Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Is playing the bass better than sex? Or to put it another way, in a fantasy situation consider this. Of these two choices which would you go for. a. a night of passion with the hottie of your dreams b. being the bassist in your favourite band playing a massive gig in front of thousands off fans going apesh1t Me tbh it would be b. Honestly! Quote
cheddatom Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 B is going to be more memorable, surely? But then A could turn into a lifelong love affair giving you happiness forever, where as B might just be the last gig before the frontman spirals out of control on a coke binge. Quote
FinnDave Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 The gig every time! In fact, I'd take an average pub gig over steamy sex any time. It lasts longer and pays better! Quote
SteveK Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Surely, we aspire to / do b. in order to do a. Quote
Dropzone Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Headlining mainstage at Download all the way. Plus I married the girl of my dreams (just encase she reads this ;-) Quote
Earbrass Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Tricky one. On the one hand there's the opportunity to have all those hundreds of hours of solo practice honing one's skills finally appreciated by a receptive audience...on the other hand, the gig sounds pretty good too.... Quote

Barking Spiders Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 Good answers . I could also have asked, as you get older and afflicted with assorted ailments, which would cause more grief, arthritis in the hands or the old fella not being up to scratch anymore? Quote

chrismuzz Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 The gig every time, I don't need any more ladies hassling me Quote
discreet Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) Surely doing it standing up with a strap on is its own reward..? Then there's fingering A minor, doing it deeper, the big bottom end... and so on and so forth. Edited March 23, 2017 by discreet Quote
ezbass Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Given that opinions are probably based on the enjoyment of the event, followed by how long you can make that enjoyment last (more = better, right?), I know which one I'd pick. Quote
bassjim Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 B would lead to A. I'd do the gig. And I'd make sure I properly learnt the set.... Quote
Cat Burrito Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 People get enjoyment in many ways and because you like one thing it doesn't mean you can't enjoy something else. I suspect that is why the question hasn't been asked before... Quote

Barking Spiders Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) errm Burrito....viz others replies the question in my OP isn't meant to be taken that seriously but when push comes to shove (apt choice of phrase here ) there many times when we all have to choose one thing over another. While I'm here it's nice to note that my member is now fully fledged Edited March 23, 2017 by Barking Spiders Quote
Lozz196 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Gig every time. Having a bad back has taken more enjoyment out of sh*gging for me than it has from playing bass. Plus I wouldn`t have to spend a whole evening pretending to care about my bass`s work colleagues/tea-club/holiday rota/shoes etc. Not hard to see why I`m single, is it? Quote
