Cabal
Who are your all time top three players? I know this is a pretty obvious topic, and i'm sure it's been done before, but there's a wide range of musical styles represented on this forum and i'm genuinely interested to know who people really rate. If i get enough replies to this thread i'll work out a top ten chart. Please also mention the relevant band name. Like i said, we're all into different stuff here, and not everbody will recognise the name of a player if it's not their thing. Mine: 1) Jean-Jacques Burnel - The Stranglers 2) John Entwistle - The Who 3) Lemmy - Motorhead Cheers, Jake M Edited October 23, 2008 by Jake_M

JohnSlade07
This week. 1. John Entwistle - The Who. 2. James Jamerson - Motown 3. Bruce Thomas - Elvis Costello & The Attractions. As you can probably tell I've got highly contemporary tastes in music and bass playing.
cheddatom
Les Claypool - Primus Dirk Lance - Incubus Timmy C - RATM I'm trying really hard to think of some more "credible" (at least to you musos) bassists but these are the only guys who have excited me and retained my interest - a lot of that is down to having an original sound. Tait
timmy c (Rage Against the Machine) - i admire his playing, but he's mostly my favourite cos of his tone. ben osmundson (zebrahead) - not the best bassist ever (far from it) but i love zebrahead and his lines have a kind of creativity to them, something a lot of players wouldn't have in that sort of band. billy sheehan - obviously.
