gary mac Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Very lush. I was working on a similar looking Balladeer for a customer yesterday, impressed with the quality but not so much with the dirt on the fret board.
RhysP Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017
Custom Legend. It's chuffing lush....
Very nice indeed. Would you like to borrow my Al Dimeola guitar tuition book?
Dandelion Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Music stand.. With the score to Moondance on it..
My favourite is the Cielo De Terra book. I can only play one track all of the way through (Enigma of Desire) but the bits I can execute are getting longer and smoother. I guess it is about realising that you don't have to be able to do the whole thing for it to be a valuable learning experience. I also have some of my own transcriptions of his stuff that I revisit occasionally.

Bilbo Posted March 29, 2017 Author Posted March 29, 2017 Yep. And the picking technique book, three different books of solos and several Piazzolla charts. Hours of fun.
Bilbo Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 After playing it acoustically for a couple of days, I plugged it in. Dead as a dodo. Changed battery. Nothing. Different leads and Amps. Nothing. XLR connection. Nothing. It appears that my electro acoustic guitar is entirely acoustic :-D Buggery bollocks. It's now got to go back to Germany for a holiday.

Bilbo Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 I have me more option to try courtesy of the interweb but I have emailed Thomann for advice prior to asking for a replacement. I understand that replacing the preamp is easy so that may also be a possibility but, yes, it's a ball ache.
Bilbo Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 Naah. It's a deader. Off to Deutschland it goes.
Bilbo Posted April 1, 2017 Author Posted April 1, 2017 Just dropped it off at a DFS place. Won't go until Monday but that's OK. Thomann have agreed to replace without any problems so I just have to wait a little while longer for the dream guitar.
Bilbo Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 And we're off again. This one works!!
Bilbo Posted April 17, 2017 Author Posted April 17, 2017 That's when it comes into it's own, RhysP. I tend to think of electro acoustics for recording rather than live but I may be going out as a duo playing guitar as well as bass so it's all good.
RhysP Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 It's certainly a looker. Is this one of the ones with the contouring on the bowl? I haven't played an Ovation for years but they look like they'd be more comfortable than the older round back versions.
