I remember buying a brand new Gibson LP Studio from a reputable retailer, it had all the requisite brand & distributor tags on etc. as you would expect with a brand new guitar, except the serial number was for a guitar made three years previously.

It was still a great guitar, all the warranties were in place (brand & distributor tags), no worries.

I picked up my 2011 US P in PMT around the time the 2012 models were released, with different pickups. They knocked something like £250 off the price for me, as it was an older model!
