Saved
fotos from yesterday and today gents.. and the best one.. but first a few words. in the begiing i was thinking about 43-40" scale. then i thought,if we add 5 frets on a 34"scale bass,it goes almost 45" and that why i decide to build it 45-43. But,the truth is,45 is a huge scale length. So,i did it colossal.. 47-44" scale length!!its just enormous..
SpondonBassed
That's a serious looking fret press. Respect. I modified a vice grip based tool for a ukulele fingerboard once. It would not be up to the job on your build however. Edited August 8, 2018 by SpondonBassed
Saved
Thats the reason i dont have give shape in the back of the neck. I need it thick and strong. This press can deal huge damage if i aply huge force

I'm guessing that is a zero fret but I can't see how it's tuned.

Saved
I dont have instaled the tuners yet. The "last fret" is missing because there will be no fret,is just the point i will sand the fretboard to give an angleso it will be lower as it goes near the pickup

baldwinbass
Very interesting, I watched the Ola Strandberg video and completely understand why you are using the design for this very challenging scale length. 🙂

baldwinbass
These are the videos I watched, which demonstrate Ola's design ethos. 🙂
Saved
Sanded everything with 600 grit and it looks like the endurneck isnt in straight line,so i have to sand more to become straight. Also i cut the individual bridges because i dont need the piece that holds the strings ball end. Next step is to fix the endurneck and build the tuners

Saved
Tomorow i will go to a profesional car painter to paint it. Here you can compare the size with my 40" scale p-bass and the 34" scale vig cobra

Saved
Total lengh 135cm and weights less than 5kg..i think its very light for this length. If it wasnt headless,it would weight more and was mora than 1.5meters long. This is the secret reason i done it headless.Less weight, less length.I would have to be shakil o neil to reach the headstock and tune it
HazBeen
I am truly intrigued about the scale size, apologies if this has been answered already: what is the main reason you have a 40” P and are building this even longer scale bass? Is it all due to down tuning?
