Danuman Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Hi all, Lately I've been trying to really challenge my feel and timing sensibilities. My current favourite gig is with a blues band, and for me these things are where it's at. The drummer and I already run a pretty tight ship as it is, but the intricacies of perfecting a romping blues set are such an immense source of pleasure, I feel like pushing the envelope a bit. So, any suggestions for some inspiring records? You know, the kind that makes everybody want to get another round in. Quote
chris_b Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 An oldie, but romps like a good 'un. . . . Jeff Golub and Henry Butler http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSGkplg4iW8 Quote

Danuman Posted January 26, 2020 Author Posted January 26, 2020 Came across this old thread by accident... Always happy to see Rocco’s stuff get a mention, so I thought a thank you was in order - more than a year overdue! 😊 I found this the other day, which I thought zips along rather nicely. Some tasteful and complementary playing over a lively rhythm section. I love hearing a proper big band play the blues. Luxurious! Quote
