ROConnell
Confused. Which posts count? As I often see people in the sale forum with a low amount of posts but then when I view their full profile, it shows hundreds of posts? Also does posting in off-topic affect the post count? Cheers
BigRedX
Nothing in "Off-Topic" counts towards your displayed post count, nor does "eBay - Weird and Wonderful". There may be more, IIRC any forum section you can't see when not logged-in doesn't count towards the post count displayed under your Avatar. Tonteee
Thanks - I had always wondered how that works.
Hooray for 'General Discussion' - it's basically 'Off Topic', but with a post count.
Coilte
What's the big deal with post counts ..or am I missing something ? Surely the opinion of someone with three posts is as valid as someone with three thousand ?
More of an issue when buying and selling - someone who's just signed up and is listing something for sale/offering to buy something may not seem as trustworthy as a regular who's been around for years if, say, it's going to be a PayPal transaction or a dispatch by post only. Doesn't mean they're a wrong 'un in itself, but it adds to the picture if other stuff doesn't add up. Bit like the "no bidders with zero feedback" you sometimes see on eBay. Tonteee
I think it is, I just never understood why some posts counted and some didn't. 😀 Edited April 7, 2017 by Tonteee
ROConnell
I was simply curious as like I said in my OP, on the little panel to the side of a post it shows the members post count, but on their full profile it's different, so that's piqued my curiousity. Marvin
Off topic definitely not, Ebay probably not and I don't think anything in a for sale forum count. Otherwise fill yerrrr boots 😀
CamdenRob
You mean to tell me I've been asking "how much does it weigh" relentlessly in every topic in the for sale forum for nothing? Edited April 8, 2017 by CamdenRob
TrevorR
Which begs two more questions... 1. Why don't those particular forums appear when you're not logged in? Why those and not others? 2. Why shouldn't those count towards the post count? Presumably there was a particular logic behind those two decisions, Over to you Messers Mod.
