Paul S Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 (edited) Amazing unique voice. Trivia - Rio De Janeiro Blue was written by a guy called Richard Torrance. Not sure his royalty cheques are getting through ok... ... starts properly about 55 seconds in... Play this in my small band, perhaps a bit more Latin-y, always goes down very well. Edited April 8, 2017 by Paul S Quote

spectoremg Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Nice post. Believe it or not she sang on a Steve Hackett track - check out Hoping Love Will Last from his Please Don't Touch album. Saw her with Joe Sample and IIRC his son on bass in Plymouth in '06. Excellent. Quote
lowdown Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Randy is great at covering other folks work, really puts her stamp on them. I love this version of 'Imagine' with the Yellow Jackets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpcS4DbybQE Quote
TheGreek Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Secret Combination still one of my favourite albums of all time...no fillers...every track a killer. 1 Quote
lee650 Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 (edited) I've always been a massive fan of Randy Crawford! I remember getting the Secret Combination album and it changed my life! It was my introduction to Abraham Laboriel who is my favourite player amongst a million other favourite players 😁 I still get shivers in the track trade winds when he slides up to a 10th double stop. Another amazing Randy album and my personal fave is "Raw Silk" Will Lee and Abe Laboriel are just perfect on every track. Will lee's tone on "declaration of love" is still my benchmark 😁 Edited April 8, 2017 by lee650 Quote

TrevorR Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017
Randy Crawford and Joe Sample worked so well together. http://youtu.be/U05sFAvKoI8
They did a cracking version of Respect Yourself on their No Regrets album. Sadly can't find a version online. Quote

Actually, the 50 minute set is worth a listen. Just Trio versions of the tunes. Joe Sample was, as usual, on top form. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUcnRFAjqzE Quote
