SpondonBassed
As a result of this I have been on a You Tube trip remembering all those great Sweet songs. Happy days
Plus one. Glam rock may be cheesy but maturity has made it a fine comestible. Best taken in good company with crackers and a light drink. Vinny
Blimey, so there is somebody else who has the album. I just haven't got a clue man!
Absolute bestest version of Song to the Siren EVER on there. The second LP's worth a listen , too, although it doesn't seem to have the cheekiness of Gravelands.

It's the choice of songs that makes Gravelands so special. Love the band as well. Elvis impersonators are two a penny, but to hear "Elvis" singing songs he just couldn't have I find hilarious. First time I heard it, it was palying at a stall in Camden Market. I was listening to it as my Mrs was browsing, thinking, could it really be?? Asked the stall owner what it was and he explained. Managed to buy the CD from the record shop near the canal bridge on our way back to the car.

Big_Stu
B side to Hell Raiser anyone ? Cracking !
Often medlied with "Someone else will" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PidiEjQxKx8 ......... the lyrics to which were why the cosy glam rock band of guys in make up playing to mostly teenage girls were banned from the Mecca ballroom chain in the early 70s.
IIRC it wasn't so much an effects pedal as some circuitry designed to produce a siren sound housed in an effect pedal shaped case. There was a foot switch to activate it, a volume control and an output jack socket. It didn't actually process anything so there wasn't an audio input.
From what Andy Scott said it wasn't so much a deliberate siren effect as a pedal that when they messed around with the settings and then used the wah pedal they accidentally found that it made a siren effect. They were later sold as such, but he reckons he was one of the first to find it.
