Mossiebass Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 So I've recently purchased a Barefaced Compact from a user on here, and I'm looking into a new head as well. I played a TH350 through one of the Aguilar cabs a few weeks ago and it sounded incredible! I'm just wondering however, with the Aggie only pushing 175w at 8ohms, will it be enough with the compact? I've heard the cabs are quite sensitive, and that the watt rating given by Aguilar is pretty underrated. Does anyone have any experience with this (or a similar) setup? Thanks, Mossie😊 Quote
Lozz196 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I used my old TH350 for rehearsals through both a Super12T and a Big Twin. Ok, both have two 12" speakers, and both are 4ohms so getting full power from the amp, but I never had the amp on higher volume than about 9/10 o`clock. And I`m not in a particularly quiet band (Oi/punk). Quote
Mossiebass Posted April 16, 2017 Author Posted April 16, 2017 (edited) Thanks for the reply! Do you think it would be enough on it's own for small gigs? Edited April 16, 2017 by Mossiebass Quote
chris_b Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I've used 1 Compact for a gig. It was fine. Aguilar seem to underrate their TH amps and the Compact is very good at turning watts into SPL so I'd say you'd be fine. What were you using before? Quote
Lozz196 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I`d be fairly sure that would be ok for smaller gigs - I think Happy Jack uses a similar combination with good effect. Quote

[/quote] I was using an Ashdown little giant 1000 with a different 400w cab and it was fine, getting 300w at 8ohms but that amp seems to massively overestimate it's wattage Quote
chris_b Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 You've got the cab so I'd carry on using the Ashdown until you have settled down with your new sound. Quote
