Lakland intonation issue..

Hi,

I'm looking at a teal 55-94 on ebay (looks a little expensive at the moment though)..

However the way the intonation is set worries me - am I being foolish? See picture attached..

I wonder if the owner just hasn't got a clue what he is doing and has set intonation based on string height...

Yup.. Mint they tend to go for £1800-£1900 and there is £200-£300 worth of refinishing there...

Pretty rare bass though, great colour too.

I can't see the saddles being an issue new strings and a proper setup should sort it I'd say, the nut and frets are in the right place so it can't be an issue.

Sometimes ( as I have discovered) you have to move your saddle to a position that looks wrong, but intonates fine. It is just what it is....!

The saddles on my Lakland are similar but much less pronounced. The A is extended the furthest and the others are slightly set back from it. The differences between them are no more than 1/4 of a saddle width. This after a set up at the Bass Gallery.

I'd suggest the bass is probably fine and just suffering from a DIY set up.

That's a 55-94 rather than a 55-76, as such, much less rare!

I wouldn't worry. It just indicates the owner probably doesn't have a clue about setting up intonation.
