hen barn Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I have just got a future impact bass synth . I'm loving it! But I have found on talkbass loads of great 80s patches. But I can't get them on my FI???? I think the manual is not helpful at all to us bass players that don't understand synths. So can anyone help me???? I have even tried talking to FI but that's not helping???? Quote
NoirBass Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 (edited) You need a midi interface, preferably the roland one. Once you have that, install the FI software and away you go. Edited April 16, 2017 by NoirBass Quote
hen barn Posted April 16, 2017 Author Posted April 16, 2017 Couldn't get a Roland one yesterday and got a pro audio on. Do you think that is my problem??? Quote
NoirBass Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Possibly? I had a generic one, and couldn't get it to work. As soon as I used the roland it worked straight away. Quote
Owen Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I use an M audio one and it works just fine. Someone you know has an audio interface with built in midi. Ask if you can borrow it. Quote
Muppet Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 What format are the Talkbass files in? I'll connect mine to my focusrite Scarlett and see if I can load them in.... Quote

ordep Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 (edited) Im in a kinda same situation; using a Roland UM-one Midi and Mac. the editor cannot connect to the pedal. the midi can be detected by the program ( the midi out light on the roland unit lights up when I adjust parameters). Any suggestions? Edited April 26, 2017 by ordep Quote
BigRedX Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Is the program data for the Future Impact in MIDI system exclusive format? If so the interface might be filtering it out. Many are set to do this by default as SysEx tends to clog up the MIDI data stream and affect note on and off timings. Check with the MIDI interface editor application to see what MIDI messages are being filtered at the MIDI in and outs and use it to enable SysEx. Quote
Roland Rock Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 How do you listen to the patches please? I've managed to import some patches into the editor, but then assumed I could listen to them via the virtual keyboard at the bottom, but nothing Quote
Higgie Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 I assumed that too. You have to have it hooked up to the amp. Quote
Roland Rock Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 (edited) I have amazed myself by successfully listening to and uploading patches onto my FI. At first the editor didn't recognise the FI, but I installed the Roland driver, flicked the switch on the interface to 'comp', then selected the correct interface for in and out in the editor. Boom. In the small random selection of patches I've listened to so far, I've found some great sounds - more useful than the stock ones. Can't wait to explore more! Edited June 4, 2017 by Roland Rock Quote
