dmccombe7
Traded 2 Berg AE112 cabs with Mark for a Dingwall. Fair price for them too. Call him up and ask if he would be interested in a trade first or drop him a meassage with some pics of your bass to see what he thinks. Take the bass in and do the deal on the day. Not really much to it. Just remember that a trade in is usually less than you'd get private sale because the shop needs to make some knd of profit from your bass. Dave
Also remember that the bass you want to trade has to be vaguely compatible with their stock list. No one really goes to Bass Direct for a s/h Harley Benton bass! Dan Dare
Also remember that the bass you want to trade has to be vaguely fit compatible with their stock list. No one really goes to Bass Direct for a s/h Harvey Benton bass!
Very good point. Even if you have something nice, trading in should be regarded as a convenience - you will usually get a better price selling privately, as a dealer has to clean, sort out/set up and guarantee any instrument, which costs them, before they even think about making a profit. Having said that, Mark at BD is very reasonable in my experience - certainly better than a lot of dealers.
Guest gazzatriumph
Traded a shuker P bass for Warwick Corvette $$ price given to me for the shuker was alot better than selling private and with no fees, he has sold a bass and amp for me again got a fair price, he takes 20% commission but you are likely to get more money than selling on eBay as it has come from a well-known shop. Hutton
I have found that some dealers are giving a pretty good price on trade-ins. Whereas private deals very often are disappointing with people offering silly money for good instruments.
