Seahorses.

Good shout, I was listening to that yesterday.

I saw Chris Helme at a festival a couple of years ago. Much of the set was his own stuff before he finished with a few Seahorses songs. You could see people's reaction change as they realised who he was!

Animal Logic anyone?
Stuart Copeland, Stanley Clarke and Deborah Holland. Late 80s if I remember. Just well crafted pop. Well I liked it

Two albums and that was it. Deborah Holland didn't really dig the touring and performing aspects of the band.

Something completely different from Saigon Kick. Think they called it Acid Jazz

How about some of those Camden bands from the late 80s / early 90s? Silverfish, Milk, Headcleaner, Faith Healers, The Love Blobs, The Telescopes, i bet nobody remembers them..
Silverfish are alive and well and in my bathroom :(

It Bites.
Four years, three fabulous studio albums, and then gone. (nb. Not counting the later reform version, good though it was.)
I knew you'd be on the case with It Bites Rich. Have to disagree about the current band - sh1te!

Absolutely. Two awesome albums and then nothing. What happens to these great bands?

In the case of the Longpigs, Richard Hawley played with Pulp for a bit before embarking on a very successful solo career. He's made some cracking records.

One from this parish, now I think about it - Clarky (not to be confused with Clarky72), who was once quite regular on here, played DB for a group called All The Queen's Ravens. I thought their first album was quite wonderful - sadly, a second one is looking unlikely from what I've heard.

Around the time I started playing, I thought this band showed promise but if you have a band full of alcoholics and heroin addicts, one death of a bass player is likely to kick the whole thing into touch.

The 'Extraction' band of Greg Howe, Dennis Chambers and Victor Wooten was fantastic. The album they put out was brilliant. A shame they only made one, and the name 'Extraction' was an in-joke as to how difficult it was to make (see also: cover art of someone having teeth pulled out).

It came from an era of great fusion trio records, but the likes of GHS and CAB did three and two records respectively.

Propaganda - one proper album (the excellent "A secret wish") and a remix album before they split. The band did carry on with one original member and Derek Forbes and Brian McGee, who had both recently left Simple Minds, for one more album (1234) but it lacked the first album's dark edginess and quickly disappeared (as did the band).

+1

Coles Corner is a brilliant album.

I always wished Magazine had lasted longer, though 4 albums in 4 years is a pretty good turnout.

Their first album 'Real Life' is a particular favourite of mine and still gets played - loud and often!
