Happy Jack
As it happens, I trust Thomann. A damned sight farther than I'd trust Barnes & Mullins. I still wouldn't buy this head though. A 500W version would get my attention.
la bam
I also noticed it'd been put back again, and the wording was a little ambiguous on price.
Guest Jecklin
This thread cracks me up. I 've been following as any tiny amp piques my interest as I travel to all my gigs by public transport. Weight and size are of paramount importance. If this Elf head offers anything over a GK MB200 or a markbass Nano300 I'll be amazed.
Wolverinebass
I find this stuff so funny. Considering that the advert is the closest thing to the amp that Mick and any other poor unfortunate soul who has ordered it will get to owning this travesty, maybe it's time that we wrote our own advertising slogans. "Trace Elliot Elf -the heavyweight amp for oompah loompahs." "Trace Elliot Elf - your wait has barely began."
Guest Jecklin
I should clarify as the tone of my previous post was off. Serves me right for posting with inadequate coffee. I was seriously interested in the Elf due to how small it was when it was first announced. This endless postponing by Trace is what amuses me. I have nothing but sympathy for those that have pre-ordered it. Let's hope it is incredible whenever it actually arrives
TheGreek
Bet you didn't see this coming: I was told last night they are now due end of Aug but I've been trying to get a more specific date Many Thanks Mark Hedge Peavey Product Specialist Barnes & Mullins Pro Audio Unit 14, Mile Oak Industrial Estate Oswestry Shropshire SY10 8GA www.bandmproaudio.co.uk 01691 652449 07469 159258
Happy Jack
Now that it looks as if Silvie & I will be at NAMM next January, we'll bring you one back if you like, Mick. It won't work on UK voltages of course, but at least you'll have one.
TheGreek
I was thinking about planting a TE sticker in the ground and trying to grow one. No more fantastic than the saga so far.... Imagine if there are faults with this batch and they have to go back....
Wolverinebass
I was thinking about planting a TE sticker in the ground and trying to grow one. No more fantastic than the saga so far.... Imagine if there are faults with this batch and they have to go back....
You mean "problems" other than the inherent problem of it only being 200w? I feel sorry for you squire. TE are being morons with this and I've have had my money back long ago. Plus, you do realise that the longer this drags on the greater the likelihood that the amp will be total underpowered crap making you wonder why you ordered it in the first place? Dissatisfaction breeds dissatisfaction.
TheGreek
Not too worried about the lack of power - it'll be fine for home use and small gigs, anything more than this I have a 1000w Power amp to back it up. That is, of course, if I don't die of old age first.
stingrayPete1977
What exactly was in the box of the initial demo ones, Jack socket in and out going to a power amp hidden somewhere!? 100 watts less and no speakon compared to my decade old Genz shuttle 3.0 that's not much bigger than it. MoonBassAlpha
Even the Shuttle 3 is mostly full of air, or possibly Helium
kodiakblair
Something is seriously wrong in Meridian. The ELF saga is bad but the Cirrus tale is worse January 2016 they annouce the Cirrus re-issue,I contact B&M but they can't tell me anything. Sweetwater start taking pre-orders in Feb 2017. Again B&M have no info so I contact SW,they can't ship to the UK.Dealer protection rules. There's been a few on American eBay and last week I contact a seller. This is where it gets bloody stupid. I ask about the fretboard,SW have it as Pau Ferro. The seller has copy/paste the blurb from the Peavey website which states a rosewood fretboard. In fact the specs for every model say a rosewood board and no paperwork regarding CITES. Yes folks 1 month after the ruling on rosewood Peavey goes ahead with rosewood board basses. To cement the stupidity there's a bubinga/rosewood combo too.
kodiakblair
RetractionTime Got bum info from US eBay seller. Mike Brown at Peavey CS just sent me an email saying yes they're rosewood but the CITES paperwork is included with each bass. Indonesia asked for an abstention until July this year if I mind right. Off to Retract moans elsewhere now
Musicman20
Whoever gave false info or couldn't stick to at least SOME sort of deadline at Peavey/Trace needs sacking.
EBS_freak
I forsee this to be another Chunk Systems synth pedal fiasco. Massive hype and when the thing lands, it's ultimately very disappointing. To be honest, I think I would have lost interest by now and spent my money elsewhere. Maybe when the 500w version lands (ha) I may reignite what little interest I have left. TheGreek
No response to my request for a more accurate delivery date from Mr Hedge so I rang the B&M office - now here's a surprise - the delivery date has been pushed back to 15th September (I think they mean this year but I'm not 100% sure)...Mark had said that they're as frustrated as me - I bet they're not!! I asked whether there is anybody I can discuss this with, Receptionist says Managing Director is available in an hour, please ring back. I may have to take Jack up on his offer of one from next years NAMM.
TheGreek
Update to the above. I've just finished speaking to Brian Cleary, Managing Director at B&M who confirms that there have been further delays with the Elf's arrival. He assures me that the shipment is "on the water" and is due to arrive on 6th September, that the shipment is over sold, and that he expects the shipment to arrive at the B&M warehouse about 10 days after landing in the UK. However the 16th is a Saturday, B&M are closed on Saturdays but he hopes that they will be shipping to stockists/retailers on either the 15th or 18th. Even with the over-sale he assures me that Bass Direct. who I have ordered from, should receive their allotted order and that he hopes that I will be one of the first to receive my order. We discussed the possibility of a discount, however Brian was unwilling to offer me any form of concession as a result of the 6 month delay since payment (I paid BD on 7/3/17) and advised me to discuss this with BD directly. TBH I feel that since the delay was a fault of TE/Peavey/B&M it would be unrealistic for BD to clear up their mess. Brian did not feel there was any merit in approaching TE directly for a small order by airmail to facilitate an earlier delivery for those of us who have been waiting all this time, as he felt the Elf heads would be here "soon". My frustration is not appeased, however I do not hold BD responsible in any way....I've updated them to my conversation so that they are able to provide this info to other would be purchasers. Expect my next delay update on the 18th September. TheGreek
I don't expect a refund/reduction of any sort and they've got more chance of shagging the Queen than getting any more money from me...

obbm
You should take into account that the exchange rate has moved in the pounds favour since you ordered and that BD have had your cash in their account earning interest over all this time. I can't imagine that they will have to pay B&M until 30 days after the Elfs (or is it Elves) are shipped to them.
fftc
Tbh I wouldn't have thought a discount was appropriate, for many of the same reasons as any attempted increase wouldn't be. Of course, a full refund would be totally appropriate if you decided you were not prepared to wait any longer. But if you still want the amp then that's no use. Sadly you just have to call it quits or wait. I hope your perseverance is rewarded and you love it when you finally get it.
LewisK1975
Slightly off topic but I can't help wondering why the 2x8 cab is sooooo expensive compared to the amp and the 1x10??!!
