King Tut
MY AVRI 64 reissue Jazz is a fabulous beast. However, the neck side position markers aren't white - they're almost the same colour as the wood. On a dark stage I have trouble navigating my way around. I've tried luminous stickers (by the people who do the ceiling pixie dust stuff - Starglow) but found they didn't stay attached. Has anyone got any tips for something that'll stick on or other ways of making them more visible without spending too much or drastically altering the aesthetic of the instrument? Thanks in advance. Paul S
I used luminous stickers for a while and ended up putting a coat or two of clear nail varnish over them. That kept them in place but was still easy enough to remove when I moved the bass on.
I do the lights and we've got enough. My eyesight isn't what it was and I don't like to wear specs on stage. I still find it difficult at times. Particularly with this bass. BassBunny
Luminlay is the way to go. I've used stick on ones for ages and they don't seem to come off for me. I got mine on eBay from a seller in USA. Edited May 1, 2017 by BassBunny

Oopsdabassist
I just use a Tippex type pen Colin, just top it up as required and it gives a noticable white dot..cheap as chips too! https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Pens-Pencils-Writing-Supplies/Pentel-Micro-Correct-Precision-Correction/B000I6NU26/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493708464&sr=8-2&keywords=tippex+pen
chrisanthony1211
I have similar issue with my 1963 AVRI and I get some good quality thin luminous tape and use a belt hole punch to get the size dot I want, one role of tape will last years! Plus of course it comes off easily with a scrape of the fingernail and leaves no trace. I've used Luminlay, glow-stickers, felt-tip pen, LEDs, you name it. The Tippex is by far the easiest fix for this.
BigRedX
Ideally LEDs, but Luminlay comes a good second. I've found that anything non-permanent will rub off at the most inconvenient moment, and I've stopped trying to make do with these sorts of solutions. JapanAxe
I have a PRS guitar with side dots and moon inlays that disappear under stage lighting. I bought a set of rub-down white dot decals via eBay, but they are starting to wear a bit now. Think I'll try Andy's paint pen.
JPJ
I've just replaced the white dots on my KK Baby Bass with the 2mm Luminaire side dots from Rothko & Frost. I went with the 2mm version but in hindsight the 3mm might have been a better option. They are certainly bright enough on dark stages though http://www.rothkoandfrost.com/glow-in-the-dark-luminescent-inlay-dots-pack-of-12/

It'll come off with a fingernail if necessary
Saved
C'mon,i dont belive the side dots are a "must have". I play bass 7 years,no need side dots,no need inlays. I am just used with my fingerboard. If i do this, that means, any one can do it
