stephaniet17 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Just come across these this morning on t'internet. Just wondered if anyone had had a chance to play one in person (or owns one!?). I'm extremely curious - would be a great backup bass that makes a bit of a statement on stage! T-Bay Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 All sold out so someone must like them, or no one liked them so they gave up. Quote

T-Bay Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I guess he had nothing else to work with so thought diesel do for now. Quote
alyctes Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 You'd have to lead with 'Can The Can', I guess. Though really I think it ought to be left to rust tin peace. Quote

casapete Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Saw these at a guitar show recently. Had a quick go on one and they were actually okay, although rather strange to hold. ( Maybe I'm not the best judge though as I do like Danelectros and other oddball stuff!) Quote
Yukimajou Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017
Can I play with madness?
You'll have to ask Suggs. Quote
wateroftyne Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Cigar box / oil can guitars are a bit 2015, aren't they? Quote

Beer of the Bass Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 I had an oil can guitar a few years ago, bought on a whim. Mine was made from a can of Unipart brake cleaning fluid. It was kind of entertaining, but it was about the most uncomfortable thing imaginable due to the shape and size of the can. They could be a fun wall-hanger perhaps, but to actually play one seems like a bit of an affectation unless you have a genuine need to cobble together an instrument from scrap materials. Quote
