Is this a result of the internet? and publications wanting linkage? Historically the press have hated us. Does nobody give a bad review anymore?
I think a lot of it has to do with a lot of music reviews now being written by genuine music fans & not by music journalists who were more interested in their own fame than the bands they were writing about. BigRedX
I'll be getting one of those sometime in the next week. Regarding reviewers, I think these days there is such a wealth of new music being released (and old music being re-released) every week that reviewers no longer feel obliged to review everything they receive. If they don't like it they simply won't review it, especially for niche genres. I think the only exceptions being made now are when someone very famous (or important in a genre) releases something that is seriously sub-par. MoonBassAlpha
I read that as getting a review, not a SL&Gs box set. Could be wrong though...
Dad3353
Ordered, now just have to wait for the postman. Hours of listening fun in store..!
MoonBassAlpha
Good stuff! Whatever next? A Snake Corps retrospective? I'd be tempted by that!
SpondonBassed
...Does nobody give a bad review anymore?
It's not commercially good for anyone involved in reselling to do so. Reviewers want to know that they can remain employable and so avoid making negative comment. They are generally less egotistic than they were I think. As for Internet reviews by 'net users in general, I expect many of those are put up by the owners of the product and are not worthy of note. Anyway, you must be chuffed. Well done.
SpondonBassed
I liked the first three randomly selected tunes on YT so I've ordered it. What I listened to brought me back to the eighties in a pleasant way so I think I will enjoy hearing the band's progression through the decades. Thanks for sharing. In the eighties we were influenced by the same artists that clearly influenced you; Cure, Smiths, Joy Division/New Order etc. Unlike yourselves, we weren't talented enough to sound much better than cheap imitations when we tried to perform our own material. Well done and thanks for the heads up. PS; Great bass sound on the studio mixes. Not so great on the live ones but that's quite normal and nothing to be ashamed of.
tbh we were never properly happy with the studio mixes - hence the redux version of the 3rd album.... We've just come back from a couple of gigs in Spain last weekend and took a multitrack from one of the shows - I played my new EBMM for the first time and the bass tone is incredible - there may be more live mixes on future releases (with an awesome bass sound)....
