jimmy23cricket
Hello, Looking for more intermediate to advanced lessons. Particularly around theory/harmony/scales/arpeggios Thanks
Lozz196
Pop into Fretz in Hemel Old Town - Barry who works there (owns it?) is a bassist and very good, he may be able to assist.
jimmy23cricket
Ok, will give them a go

TheGreek
Another recommendation for Barry in Fretz - nice fella - shame he's not a member here.

lozkerr
Looks like Fretz has ceased to be. Which is a shame, as I'm looking for a teacher who can cope with a slightly daft bint who likes to run before she can walk, does know the bass-ics, can read music and wants someone to keep her on the straight and narrow, as well as stopping any bad habits before they take root. I've only been playing for about eighteen months, and I know I've still got a lot to learn. Any other recommendations around the Berko / Hemel / St Albans area? Or Central London? Grangur
For theory you might like to give Ariana Capo a go. She's written a great book and has vids to support it. https://arisbassblog.com
lozkerr
Thanks, Grangur. Thing is, I really need a person, rather than a blog and videos, to work with. My partner plays lead guitar, and we have a lot of fruitful jam sessions, but she's not a bassist, and is the first to admit it. It's probably my age, but I find it easier to learn from meatware than software. I think I'll have a wander round the local music shops and ask around. PatrickJ
Did you find a tutor? I'm in Watford looking for a good teacher, hemel isn't far though. Cheers
lozkerr
I did! Jamie Wilkins (wilko66 on here) is listening to my awful noise each week and trying not to laugh. Top bloke and I feel very comfortable learning from him. He's based in Aylesbury, which is a little way away, but it's worth the trek.
PatrickJ
Thanks; I managed to find one in Bushey but if it doesn't work out I'll check him out.
