CamdenRob Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 (edited) Been thinking about a YOB bass recently... 1982. Not a bad year for basses really; Fullerton Reissues, Tokai jazz sound / hardpuncher, shergold marathons... anything else I should be keeping an eye out for? Edited May 5, 2017 by CamdenRob Quote
LukeFRC Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 (edited) Slot pole piece G&L L1000 (I love mine) - though they might not be slot by '82? Dunno One of Leo Fender's best guitars. Edited May 5, 2017 by LukeFRC Quote
GuyR Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 All good choices, particularly Fullerton reissues. First run of Fender logo jv squiers are also quite special and relatively rare. 1982 is probably the best year of that decade for options Your parents had remarkable foresight. Quote
kumimajava Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 I'm in the same boat, and same year Looking at many of the same models you mentioned - would perhaps add the Ibanez Roadstars of that year (rs924, 824). I think also Greco made some solid stuff around that time. Will stick around and see what other suggestions turn up! Quote
CamdenRob Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 (edited) A few more options to go on the list Haven't even thought about roadstars... Edited May 6, 2017 by CamdenRob Quote
Steve Browning Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 (edited) Got to be a Fender Logo'd JV Squier. Not too many about and not the stupid price of the 1958 Precision I'd need. Edited May 6, 2017 by Steve Browning Quote
AndyTravis Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 I always keep an eye out for 1984 stuff. Been close with 80/81 recently. I'm always looking for an 1984 Wal, but then again I'm always in need of the £3000/£4000 it'd take to buy one too. Quote
TrevorR Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Aria SB... mine (an SB700) was bought in 82 (although the serial no says it's strictly an 81). You own Wals, Rob, so the fact that they're built from ash-effect lead shouldn't be an issue! Quote
kodiakblair Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 When you're skint there's always Westone. Plenty of them still about from 82 Quote
Defo Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Got to be an Aria, age well and top build quality. I was born in 1971 😥 Quote
chaypup Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 (edited) Daion XX would be perfect from '82 Edit: Assuming you could find one! Edited May 6, 2017 by chaypup Quote

Highfox Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 The Ibanez Musician basses I like, maybe not that collectable but are good quality and won't break the bank. Quote
Chiliwailer Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 (edited) You're an 80's kid, so how about representing the new tech 80's with a Steinberger L2 (Mullet and rolled up jacket sleeves optional) Edited May 7, 2017 by Chiliwailer Quote
Sibob Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 If it were me, I'd be looking at either a Peavey T-40 or a Stingray, possibly a Wal if I was made of money. One year later and you're into the first year of Fodera, which is (un)lucky for me, being 1983 lol Si Quote
