Jenny_Innie
Can you think of any famous guitar players who are good bass players? I can't think of any. I mean really play and understand the instrument. Not just put their fingers in the right places and do all kind of widdly things like they are still playing guitar.

fretmeister
I'm going to guess at Frank Zappa as that git could play everything. But a definite +1 for Prince. Seen him do it live. Amazing on both instruments.

DaveFry
Glen Campbell wanted to be just a guitarist . Did a tour in the Beach Boys playing bass and singing the falsetto harmonies at the same time . Steve Winwood plays guitar and bass . Emory Gordy ditto .

Marc S
I was going to say Mike Oldfield and Sting too.... And Paul McCartney.... although he played bass in the early Beatles stuff - did he also learn guitar at the time? I seem to recall hearing that he did, as that's how he and John wrote some of the early songs, with them both on acoustic guitar?
