thebigyin Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 (edited) After many years i'm going to have to change the strings on my beloved Precision i hate new Bass strings, but they have been on a long time now and i have to take the plunge, hopefully i can deaden them asap just don't like the brightness of new strings, but on the upside at least once the deed is done i won't have to change them again for 5 or more years Edited May 10, 2017 by thebigyin Quote
julesb Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 (edited) Excellent. I hate new strings too. You should send the old ones in to Kew Gardens to test for unknown forms of life that have developed in their own little micro universe. Edited May 10, 2017 by julesb Quote
mikel Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Personally I love new, bright, zingy strings. Do you use rounds of flats? If rounds why not try flats or the hybrids out there? Quote
chris_b Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Get a set of flatwounds and you'll never have to change them again. Quote
BobVbass Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Really?? You can change strings now?! Whatever will they think if next. My RS66s are almost broken in after 10 years... Quote
Thunderbird Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Buy some status strings they come already dead lol Quote
Nicko Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 I changed mine around xmas time, but they're still too zingy. Quote
thebigyin Posted May 10, 2017 Author Posted May 10, 2017 Tried some flats recently but didn't like them so put the old un's back on....just bought a new set of picato rounds only £17.95 hopefully these will last me for the next decade lol Quote
xgsjx Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Try D'Addario Chromes. They're flats, but have a little bit of brightness to them. I've found they wear in quite nicely. Another option might be to try either 1/2 rounds or tape wound strings. Quote
