hamfist
NOW SOLD Having fallen in love with the necks of my now 2 x Tune Bass Maniac basses, I need to complete the one in/one out rule and this one has to go. It has been my main bass for about 3 years (although has been played very little in the last 18 months). I have issues with tendonitis type things in my fingers and the tiny/lithe necks of the Tune's really do help me. Anyway, I built this myself. Its a ..... - 2-piece lightweight "guitarbuild.co.uk" ash PJ body, with a beautiful satin danish oil and wax finish. There are a couple of extremely tiny dents on it which you have to look really hard to find. Its a lovely finish TBH. - Schaller 2000 bridge. These are the best bridges ever IMO. Adjustable in 3 dimensions for each string and , yes, that does mean you can choose your ideal string spacing. These bridges give an excellent break angle for each string too. - Jazz neck ... 38mm nut, rosewood fretboard, block inlays. Can't remember exactly where I got this, it cost somewhere around £120 from somewhere in Holland I seem to remember. It has a gloss vintage tint finish. I have "breathed on" the nut and the frets and it gives a lovely low action if that is your thing, plays beautifully. The tuners are generic but work exactly as they should. If you look at the pics you will see a few tuner holes on the back of the headstock which are visible. A set of full-sized WIlkinson-type tuners would cover these holes. If you look hard you will also see the tips of two holes on the back of the neck heel which are just poking their heads out of the neck pocket, left from when this neck was attached to a Westone body (I think). I mention all this for completeness. - pickups are a tonerider jazz bridge and a Wilkinson neck pickup. They work great as a PJ pairing IMO, as nice as virtually anything out there. - The bass comes with two x pickguards - 1/ the black PJ one and 2/ a perloid blue one cut for a Jazz neck pickup if you fancy trying a Jazz bass pickup configuration on it. The body is routed for either under the pickguard. For an extra tenner I'll throw in a neck J pickup too. - controls are std VVT. - nice'n'light. My bathroom scales say around 3.5kg (7.7lbs) which I would say is pretty close. Yours for £260 posted within mainland UK in a hard case. No trades and no offers at this price please. It is a fantastic and resonant bass. If this doesn't sell for a while I would consider splitting. Please feel free to register your interest in parts of it with me, but I will give it a chance to sell as a whole first. alyctes
Alan's a good guy to deal with (and a nice bloke), and his wax/oil finishes for bodies are very nice indeed. I don't need it or I'd be down there tomorrow Edited May 13, 2017 by alyctes
