Root45 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) Anyone had any experience of one of these? Made by Normandy of Oregon USA (so I guess they would say Aluminum) They do a plain chrome one too - and I haven't seen it, yet, but they have an Aluminium Flying Vee Bass in the works....... And this: Edited May 13, 2017 by Root45 Quote
Graham Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 There's also EGC in the States and Alusonic in Italy who both some tasty stuff. Quote

[/quote] They are quoting 9lbs on both the P Bass style and the archtop. The bodies are hollow, with bracing inside. The neck is Maple with a Rosewood FB - and an aluminium nut! Joebethell Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 They had one in the gallery second pic in green weight well it wasn't light by which I mean I picked it up and put it straight back down again. Quote
yorks5stringer Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Can I be the first to ask if its good for Metal? Quote

radiophonic Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Not heard of those, but the EGCs are awesome and both the guitars and basses are used by some pretty high profile players at the noisier end of the independent scene (Jesus Lizard, Shellac. Melvins). For those days when you are a bit reticent to gig your original Travis Bean! Quote
Skybone Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I heard that they sounded tinny... I'll get my coat. Quote
chris_b Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I was in a band with a guitarist who used a Travis Bean and apparently on cold days the neck was quite uncomfortable to hold until it warmed up, which it didn't do very quickly. A whole cold bass would not be my idea of a good bass to play. If you're in California I guess this won't be a problem but chilly UK. . . it might be. Quote

Yukimajou Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Being a fan of Gretsches I do love the archtop and I'm very happy to see that it's a 34" scale as well. Damn shame about the £2000+ price tag though. For that money I can get an actual Grtesch bass with change! Quote
