MM Stingray 62 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 One of the best rock singers of all time a massive loss to the music world. RIP Quote
ezbass Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 It appears that the hidden disease of mental illness took the great man https://consequenceofsound.net/2017/05/chris-cornells-death-ruled-suicide-by-hanging/ Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Yep hanged, how sad and although I know little about his personal life my thoughts go to his close friends and family. Quote
SH73 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Never heard the name but know Soungarden and Audioslave. Sad news... Quote
Grassie Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 "Heaven send Hell away, no-one sings like you anymore..." Rest in peace Chris Cornell. X Quote
peteb Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 RIP Chris Cornell I always will remember his tribute to Whitney Houston just after her untimely death, mainly because my Dad passed away just a couple of days later. I never thought that just over 5 years later it would serve as a tribute to Cornell himself. Such a genuinely gifted guy but despite all the talent, looks and success, some people just can’t leave their demons behind. Such a shame… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCY5lF7KV84 Quote
KingPrawn Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 News like this is just so very sad. I can't imagine how his family and friends must feel. https://youtu.be/WZ3e8fvUIoI Quote
Cato Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 (edited) For what it's worth this is my favourite Chris Cornel song. I used to busk this one in the subways of Plymouth. Ironically the album it came from was a tribute from various people on the grunge scene for a friend who died young. http://youtu.be/VUb450Alpps Edited May 18, 2017 by Cato Quote

Temple of the dog was a tribute to Mother Love Bone's singer Andrew wood who had died the previous year of a drug overdose. Andrew and Chris were roomates. Quote

Cato Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 When you paste the link take the s off https, so the link should start with http. That generally does it. Quote
Funky Dunky Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 (edited) Huge fan of the man's voice, and a lot of his music. Soundgarden were the soundtrack for my leap from adolescence to adulthood, and I'm gutted by the loss of this hugely talented singer/songwriter. Thinking about the big Grunge bands, Kurt Cobain is dead, Layne Staley is dead, Scott Weiland is dead, Chris Cornell is now dead....Eddie Vedder must be bricking it. Btw.....Cornell wrote Black Hole Sun in 15 minutes... Edited May 19, 2017 by Funky Dunky Quote
Musicman20 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Is Vedder the only major grunge frontman left? Scrap that, Billy Corgan....he is also very talented. Vedder is yet another example of a stunning voice. I often see the older Pearl Jam as much more sensible and clean cut compared to the other bands....I hope Vedder is looking after himself! Quote
Musicman20 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017
Mark Arm is alive and well...
True! Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Do we include Mr Grohl in the surviving grunge singers list? I would personally. Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 I'm not really a fan of labels to define bands so I'd put Mike Patton in the list too, still no match for Cornell, what a shame when he was still spreading joy to thousands on the live scene. Quote
Stance Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Guys, you're forgetting Mark Lanegan from Screaming Trees - to me, the most underrated band/vocalista from the Seattle scene Quote
v8bass Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Some things leave you feeling cold , this is one of those times .... Very sad Gary Quote
