fender jaguar bass tone problem

Hi all
the tone pot on my Fender jaguar doesn't seem to be doing much to the overall sound the the bass, I have checked the wiring and all seems attached, I know the jaguar series can be a bit temperamental but has anyone experienced this problem?

The first thing I'd do is check out the tone pot. If you don't have a multi-meter to do this, just buy a new pot and change it anyway. They're not expensive.

If it's an American Standard version the tone knob doesn't work in "active" mode. Is yours a USA built one?
