Whats the longest you've had a bass for?

So many people chop and change basses on here but I've had my P bass for 11 years now and its just wonderful. How long have yours lasted?

I have had one of mine for 26 years but as it spent 25 of those unplayed in a cupboard I am not if it should count or not!

Interesting question, I have changed my main a lot as I'm always looking to improve-I should maybe practice more instead
I have only been playing bass seriously for about 5+ years. The ones I have hung on to are my SR5 fretless and G&L SB2. Stingrays seem a constant feature

I got my Aria SB Elite in 1989 and I still have it and play it frequently. So 28 years and counting...

Coming up to 27 years. I've had other basses, but every single gig I've played since mid1990 has been played at least partly on my Stingray.

I bought my Fender Precision in Brussels in early 1969. Brand new for £90 9/- (that's 45p). About half the London price at the time. Unfortunately it was a very average instrument, as were so many back then, anyway it did me for the next 25 years or so.

Apart from 1 gig, unplayed since I moved to 5 strings in the mid 90's.

I swapped 3 four string Stingrays for 3 five string Stingrays so that created a fresh start for me in 2010 onwards.

Sadly can't say the same for my electric basses! I'd love to say that my current 3 will be with me that long, fingers crossed

I've had my 1974 Fender Jazz since 1993. I thought it was old when I got it!

33 year and scarcely a note played on it.
But having one or more basses that don't get sold doesn't mean that you don't buy and sell many others at the same time. Many basses have passed through Grangur Towers that I wouldn't really consider I ever really "owned" them. They were always "just passin' through. Sometimes I have bought basses as projects to do up and sell. It's a hobby of mine.

24 years or something like that with my Bass Collection SB3??, It's active but no fancy wood.
Bought 2nd hand when I was getting back on my feet,it and a crazy old cat were the only things still there when the rug got pulled out from under me again years later.

It and the cat are for keeps

I have owned my original PJ bass for 33 years. It's in bits at the moment, as I've chopped and changed necks and pickups but it will live again, in the not so distant future.

I got a 1979 Fender Precision in a trade years and years ago. I had it for about 15 years. It was sh*t, a heavy old dog of a thing. A horrible horrible bass, but I couldn't afford to get anything different.

Quite embarrassing. I have played for about 15 years and the longest I have kept a bass is my current 3 band stingray. Which I have only had for about 2 and a half years!

Just received an Overwater that I hope will last the same. Shame so many basses mentioned are going unplayed

An Ibanez Roadster RS824 that I bought in 1986. I hadn't used it for years but recently I have put it back to standard after 20 years fitted with EMGs so it is getting the odd outing.
