spectoremg
Listened to The Song Remains The Same album for the first time in ages yesterday and I was struck by how 'funky' the bass lines are.

gjones
Bonham and Jones were big fans of Motown. The bass and drums in the solo of the Lemon Song are awesomely funky. The quiet second solo especially. Edited May 21, 2017 by gjones
leroydiamond
Saw JPJ perform in 1999 at my local pub (capacity 150-200). It was a warm up gig for his 'Zooma' tour. A three piece with Nick Beggs on bass/stick (Cannot remember the name of the drummer). Sensational gig it was and let us not forget his keyboard skills. I was standing right in front of him as he kicked off an instrumental version of 'No Quarter'. Tremendous! and this was his first gig as a solo artist I believe. The promoter said he was a bag of nerves before the gig. Terrific night and funky as anything

fleabag
Always liked JPJ I had the luxury of seeing them live in mid 70's, playing tracks from new album Zep 5 or if you like, House of The Holy Triff !

And the tam-tam still sounds awesome even in the background.
Yank
I was loving what JPJ played before I was aware that it was a bass. He was my first bass hero.
