I have two Fenders reissue 74 Jazz bass and a 75 hot rod PJ jazz. Love the tones on both of them
These might be worth looking at if they are doing the rounds both are now discountined

And a little bit of nostalgia of course. Also, our brain does have a tendency to see things differently, when there is something expensive involved. All these put together are a recipe for bass love. I don't believe in the word MoJo.

You know, you've hit the nail on the head here.

I'd also chuck in something else here. Listen back to some of those 60/70s recordings attributed to bassists synonymous to Fender; the tone on an awful lot of them is pretty dreadful, but hey, vintage=great, doesn't it?

Everyone forgets that 1970s QC was pretty poor at best and a lot of dogs came out of the plant.

The 70s Jazz and P basses were in some cases poorly built, but there were some great ones out there. I had a 73 Precision that was a real gem, but a whole host of later 70s basses I used to part out as soon as I got them.

Sounds like you got a good one!

I suppose I am a Febder snob, but the US 70s reissues are lovely basses indeed. I've had a few and the quality far exceeds in many cases original 70s instruments.

They really don't compare to the 60s Fenders however. They are very much on a different level.
