So I'm fed up with carrying round my Gibson ES 335 Bass on public transport in a hard case and need to get a decent gig bag. I've tried a few but not having much luck finding one that fits this type of bass.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Clint

Fits a 34" scale Peerless Retromatic B2 like this ...

How tight a fit is that Peerless? I think the ES 335 has a larger body.

Warwick make a gig bag to fir their StarBass. That would definitely be big enough. However IMO the quality is sadly lacking as mine is falling apart after only 2 years of moderate use. Plus the straps are rubbish.

I checked the Peerless would fit before buying using the bag internal dimensions ...

Inner dimensions: Length: 120 x Width (Neck/Body): 18/39 x Height: 6 cm

...versus Peerless dimensions ...

120 x 39 x 6cm

... and it does fit perfectly.

If the 335 or other comes in at or under those dimensions then my guess is it will fit. If not, then not.

It's not an absloute top quality bag but it works for me and was not expensive.

I have a Fender soft case for my JC, fits a treat

I'm pretty sure it's this one

That's not cheap for what appears to be a standard gig bag.

How comfortable are the straps? I might consider one of those when my Warwick one finally gives up.

I find it very comfortable, bit of a sail when you're cycling tho.

Had the same trouble trying to find a gig bag for my BaCH EB2 long scale. Bought a couple which the measurements indicated might fit, but then they didn't, problem seemed to be waist position and width of upper bout. That one from Thomman looks hopeful.

I managed to get a fender gig bag for their starcaster bass and that did the job well. Manson guitars also had an acoustic bass case that it fit in as well..
