andyonbass Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 (edited) I’ve gigged my AC Recurve for a few months now and I’m absolutely delighted with it, so when I heard Alan was producing a Jazz type bass, my immediate thought was “Gotta have one”, closely followed by “What can I sell!” Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have just placed a deposit on one. I’ve always hankered after a Jazz FMT but never found a Fender 5er that I got on with. I knew that Alan had a nice piece of flamed maple in stock, so that was the obvious choice. I want a similar tonal palette to my Recurve so I have a replacement if either one gets nicked or damaged (ever had a rear end shunt with your gear in the boot?) so I am going for another piece of Black Limba for the body. When the Recurve was being built I had originally specified a double cut model, but seeing Alpha Daves single cut prompted a change of mind, this was after Alan had started on the neck, which now wouldn’t be suitable so a new one was constructed. “I’ll be able to find a use for the old one“, he said - too right, I’m having it on me Jazz! It’s a 7 piece Maple/Bubinger with mac ebony fingerboard. Oh, and of course, the ACG preamp Here's the top The body And this is what it will look like.
