T-Bay Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Alive by Pearl Jam, off one of my favourite albums and great to play. So what tunes are other basschatters enjoying playing? Quote
bartelby Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017
Alive by Pearl Jam, off one of my favourite albums and great to play. So what tunes are other basschatters enjoying playing?
I've been really enjoying playing Alive too, and Once, Black, Porches, Release... Other than that I've been relaxing and playing some Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Quote
seashell Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I Saw Her Standing There by the Beatles. It's bloody fast! Played it in public for the first time last night. Went down a storm. I felt very proud of my little self. :-) Quote
Bobthedog Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Oddly enough, 'tis Black for me this week. Simple but I am really enjoying the bass line Quote
ZilchWoolham Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Dirty Linen by Fairport Convention. The first two parts anyway! Quote
Cato Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 (edited) Jackson 5 'I want you back' has always been my favourite line to play. That and 'Too young to die' by Jamiroquai make it into much every practice session,no matter what else I might be trying to learn, purely for the joy of playing them. ezbass Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 We've recently added Kayleigh to our set, so I've been playing this a lot lately. Quote
Ashweb Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Been given two exercise / practice pieces by my instructor and have got a bit hooked on playing them as they're two of my favourite tracks. The first is 'Sunshine of your Love' by Cream and the second is 'Cars' by Gary Newman; having a bit of trouble getting the chorus up to speed, but I'll get there... Quote
FinnDave Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Various Nightwish songs, due to a new project I've been invited to join. Had our first rehearsal tonight, so the work paid off. Quote
Number6 Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Donna Lee.....but much less staccato than Crapato 😯 Quote
bazzbass Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Led Zeppelin - What Is and What Should Never Be and Ramble On, my two fave basslines, wait, no Lemon Song too Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Soul to Squeeze - one of Flea's most melodic basslines Quote
SpondonBassed Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017
Alive by Pearl Jam, off one of my favourite albums and great to play. So what tunes are other basschatters enjoying playing?
I've just listened to the box set that Twigman posted about. Sad Lovers and Giants' five disc compilation; http://basschat.co.u...-a-box-set-out/ I'd not heard of them before but they encapsulated the feeling of music in the eighties in a way that went down superbly well. Their later stuff developed comfortably and sat very well with nineties' styles as well. It's not often that I invest in a band that I don't know. I have no regrets on this purchase. Quote

My favourite song on the list is Love Walked In (by Thunder) but the whole set is cracking! Quote
Maude Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 I've been getting up to speed with R. Dean Taylor's "There's a ghost in my house", Frankie Valli's "The night" and Dobie Gray's "Out on the floor". Not particularly taxing but great fun to get in to . Quote

howdenspur Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 We've just started doing "Keep on Growing" by Derek and the Dominoes - though my younger amigos know the Tedeschi Trucks version better. Great song, nice bass line too! Quote
