SquierJaguar
I'm getting a short scale bass. Someday, I might want to change out the neck for a longer normal neck. Will a normal neck still fit on a short scale bass? Is that even possible?
ahpook
Sadly no, the spacing of the frets is determined by the scale length, so the frets would be in the wrong position. You could tune the open strings OK but it would all go a bit wrong when you started to fret. For instance, the 1st fret E string would no longer be F Edited June 7, 2017 by ahpook
Grangur
... unless you want to make it fretless at the same time? and don't forget to move the dots at the same time. Edited June 7, 2017 by Grangur

Norris
The bridge (saddles) to 12th fret distance needs to be the same as the 12th fret to nut distance for the frets to be in the correct places. That would then involve moving the bridge on your Jag - which would then leave holes and need the bridge ground wire moving. Then your pickups are not in the same relative position... etc. Buy another bass
EssentialTension
There's nothing abnormal or wrong with a short scale bass so just play that as it is. If you want a long scale too then get one.
missis sumner
...predicts OP GAS within about 6 months. Then if OP keeps playing, she will have 9 basses in 3 years. It's way worse than shoes.
