SH73 Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 (edited) Can anyone recommend a guitar di for recording guitars. I'm using Ableton live lite. Edited June 8, 2017 by SH73
GarethFlatlands Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 If your audio interface has a switch to go between 'Line' and 'Instrument' on the inputs you might not need one. If you want to get one anyway for whatever reason, what's your budget and does it need to be portable? Should help narrow down the suggestions.
randythoades Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 I have used the Behringer GI 100 Ultra G box (red one) an it work really well. Although I now prefer to get a good sound first either from amp or effects pedal and record sound as is to stop my constant tweaking!

Also a Palmer PDI09 which is passive, so best hooked up to a spare speaker socket on your amp. I'd say this one sounds better and is more flexible than the Behringer, but the Behringer is unfeasibly inexpensive.
roman_sub Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Radial make great DI boxes, but Rupert Neve DI (RNDI) is my favourite for really clean capture. LR Baggs has a nice unit for acoustics. Samson makes a cheap but effective one. I would recommend an active DI for electric guitars. Depends on whether you need to use speaker emulation (but if so remember to use an adequate load if it's a tube amp) or just intend to go direct to your interface. Assuming your interface does have an 'instrument' input setting, it may be adequate. absolute difference between top DI's and competent ones isn't huge, but again, depends on your applications....
Tuco Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Orchid electronics in Exeter make GREAT DI boxes for under £40, I have a Radial also but for the price difference I`d go Orchid EVERY time!!!
Bobo_08 Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 Check out the Focus Rite range, not strictly a DI, but will allow you to connect a instrument or XLR connected device to your PC
skidder652003 Posted June 14, 2020 Posted June 14, 2020 I just got the Audient iD4 and it has a dedicated guitar input that emulates a valve amp, sounds fantastic.
