Gotta nail this one... Enjoy. And, BTW, who's the bassist out there? Edited October 29, 2008 by Faithless Quote
stingrayfan Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Paul Denman there. Clearly in 1984, there was a nationwide shortage of bass guitar straps. Quote
yorks5stringer Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 (edited) We do this in our set, needless to say I don't replicate the ride height! Edited October 29, 2008 by yorks5stringer Quote
squire5 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Did you notice??When it came to the solo, the camera sailed straight past the bassist and on to the keyboard.I'm convinced that cameramen are instructed to ignore bass players at all costs.Even today. But that strap length was a bit high.He could have rested his chin on the top bout! doctor_of_the_bass Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Great player - he now lives in LA where his wife runs a designer clothes store! Remember seeing them play Live Aid back in '85 and even then, I thought, `thats a little bit too high' even by Mark King's standard! Quote
Faithless Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 (edited) When watching other live version, I've found this... Look at the comments below - it seems like Sade's drummer... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwusTuUnQ70&NR=1 And, btw, Mr. Denman seemed to enjoy playing ala Mr. Jamerson - one finger picking, two fingers only when there's a need of 16th notes, or triplets, etc... watch about 2:47 for this.. 2nd Btw - I'm doing this song at the moment - believe me, it's quite a challenge - little trifles in probably every section.. I mean, it's more of a challenge to remember all those mini-changes... Edited November 7, 2008 by Faithless Quote
Kiwi Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Sade is one of those rare ladies who start off jaw droppingly gorgeous, come across as intelligent yet grounded in interviews and 20-odd years later she hasn't aged either... SIGH  Quote
Faithless Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Actually, I didn't understand the whole thing 100%... (greet my poor English here..) Could ya explain it in other words? Quote
Kiwi Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 The one from Live Aid. The sound engineer should hung drawn and quartered. *WARNING* It was a cold day so you might need safety goggles before watching. Quote
KennysFord Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Sheer class....... I saw Sade live in blackpool just before the second album was released way back when. What a voice. She was described on this very forum only a couple of weeks back as sheer 80's dross What a shame. Quote

The live version of Smooth Operator posted is indeed great, but if your really want a challenge, try learning 'Snakebite' (including the solo) :-). I generalise of course, but back in the 80s when I where a lad she seemed to be beloved by the 316 BMW crowd who also thought that Simply Red was a good idea Quote

Owen Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Understated quality. Now there's something you don't see everyday, more's the pity. Quote
