dave74200
Just bought another SVT 2 Pro after going through most light weight heads. Yes it's big and heavy but in my humble opinion, everything else is a compromise. I think it's something every bass player should own at least once. dmccombe7
Have the SVT4 Pro and its pretty impressive. Love the tone. Tried the SVT 2 in various studios and found them a bit too muddy for me but that's just a personal preference. The variation available for tonal adjustment is quite impressive when you include the graphic and footswitch. Dave
basshead56
I adore 'that' sound! Love my SVT-CL to bits. Tried everything else and nothing sounds as nice as a big Ampeg valve sound. I love the sound of my Marshall VBA 400 too, but the SVT just seems to have a touch more oomph - don't know why. I have played a couple of SVT 2's and a 2PRO at various shared stages over the years and they sounded immense! I agree, everyone should own an Ampeg valve amp at some point (until their back gives out anyway!)
danbowskill
I wish I never sold mine .......but oh my that damn weight of it :-( . Highly recommend a new fender super bassman 300w all valve, can do the svt CL sound and heft to a tee! But 20lbs lighter :-)
Matte_black
I owned both the 2Pro and the older "II" model. The II is definitely one of the best amps around for sure. They have a few limitations (impedances, weight) but of course they have such an organic, warm sound that I really doubt you could get with a lightweight amp. At least for now. I've read very good things about the tone of the SVT7 (resembling a tube amp) but in real life, the dynamics of a tube power section are hard to emulate.
