SquierJaguar
I am just now really switching from guitar to bass because I just simply like bass better. It's easy to find songs with heavy guitar, but I find it hard to find songs with heavy bass lines. I'm aware of Green Day and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, but that's really all I've been able to find. Right now, I'm just looking for song suggestions or you can even just name your favorite bassist. I appreciate all suggestions. Thank you! Johnny Wishbone
Rancid's bassist is stupidly good, and is fairly prominent in the mix. Check out their "...And Out Come The Wolves" album.
Adrenochrome
Probably a suggestion that many on here will laugh at but a lot of the Papa Roach stuff has fun or interesting hooks on it.

PaulWarning
if you're after songs where you can hear the bass line so you can figure it out, try raising the song a whole octave with audacity or something similar makes the bass stand out, Blink 182 stuff is not very challenging, the Ramones even less so, but great fun, Hey Ho Let's Go
Cat Burrito
Yesterday I had Elvis Costello's 1977 debut My Aim is True on permanent rotation and I do think the 70s is a great era to start. Lots of very creative and tasteful bass playing.

A lot of sex pistols stuff is so loose you can build a good bassline through it and make it sound amazing.

Cato
The whole Dookie album by Green Day is a masterclass in modern (ish) pop punk playing. Arguably it was the album that launched a thousand other bands, all trying to get 'that' sound.

Crawford13
+1 for Fugazi, album I would start with is The Argument. Not quite pop punk but for heavy bass in a similar genre Rage Against the Machine have great bass lines. And further afield you have Primus which are a band I think you will dig if your starting point is RHCP etc, I think the easiest album to get into is probably Antipop. Then you can dig deeper...
