Grangur
I'm a noob in all this mic stuff. Bass is complicated enough for me. Fairly soon I'm planning to have some skype lessons. I've got a web cam with an integral mic - which is all good, if the mic is up to the job, but it's bound to be cr@p. So, I've also got a Scarlet 2i2 and a Scarlet Studio mic. With that I've got an XLR-XLR lead, but nowhere to plug it in. Is the Scarlet mic the way to go? Am i making this all very over complicated? Any tips? Many thanks Richard
NickD
I guess it depends what you want to do. For my lessons I just use my tablet and it's built in mic, and my tutor uses his laptop & its mic as far as I can see. I can hear him, he can hear me... job done I do have an interface etc, but it's not been necessary to use it yet.
Dad3353
As above, depends a bit on your goals, but Skype is not hifi, anyway. Just use your webcam, and your tutor will tell you if there's any sound quality issues. My webcam is about as basic as they come, but the sound quality captured as easily good enough for Skype, both for the spoken word and for instruments, including drums. Good luck with the lessons; well done for going down the route of self-improvement.

bazzbass
the xlr cable connects the mic to the 2i2's front combi input jacks. then via USB into your PC. try the webcam mic first as it's the easiest setup. If that isn't good enough, ask again here and we'll get your other mic hooked up via the Scarlett

lurksalot
The scarlet takes a standard guitar lead , no need for anything special to plug your bass in with
