Rich Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 I reckon this is a must-see Quote
NoRhino Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 London, Manchester, Bristol and Leeds is not a UK tour. It's some dates in England. Quote
toneknob Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I'll be at the London gig, bit of an odd choice of venue after the last couple of shows I've seen him play in recent times - at the Palladium and the Jazz Cafe. Quote
visog Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) He's doing a social club in Leeds. Hope the members turning out for a pint of mild with a couple of comics, a drag act and then a few strippers are prepared for Stanley's face-melting fusion... Edited June 20, 2017 by visog Quote
Cato Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017
London, Manchester, Bristol and Leeds is not a UK tour. It's some dates in England.
If he'd annouced one date in the midlands I'd have been there. Quote
jazzyvee Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Yeah Birmingham gets missed out on a lot of these kind of gigs. Maybe promoters know how low turnout can be in the city and see it as a risk! Quote

Those guys all know each other. Are we on some kind of blacklist? Still could be worse, I used to live in Devon. Quote
Ba55me15ter Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Victor Wooten played that same social club last year. It was packed-out and a great gig! AndyTravis Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Booked for gorilla in Manchester. Annoyed I didn't book for Victor Wooten there. Quote
Rich Posted June 21, 2017 Author Posted June 21, 2017
London, Manchester, Bristol and Leeds is not a UK tour. It's some dates in England.
At least he's coming here. Mike Stern's last couple of 'European' Tours haven't come within 500 miles of the UK, which is bloody annoying because he's my favourite guitarist. Stu Hamm's last 'European' tour was similarly anglophobic. Quote
Jakester Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 (edited) Interesting - his website suggests the Bristol gig is the Thekla, but that link says the Fleece. Any idea on his band line up? Edited June 21, 2017 by Jakester Quote

bootleg Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Got tickets for Bristol at The Fleece. Thanks for the heads up. Quote
vsmith1 Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 Got my ticket for Manchester. The week before we see ZZ Top. Quote
jacko Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 Hard to believe but despite having been a fan of Stanley since the 70's I now find him a bit tedious and would much rather see ZZ Top again. Quote
jacko Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 (edited) bloody typical. New tour announcement includes a date in Edinburgh the day before I fly back from the states. Edited June 28, 2017 by jacko Quote
alembic63 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 My tickets for Manchester turned up today......haven't seen him live since 1986... Im a little bit excited Quote
ahpook Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 (edited) How was the London gig ? A, um, 'domestic situation' blew up over the weekend which meant I couldn't go. I hope everyone had a good time. Edited July 18, 2017 by ahpook Quote

Much preferred the acoustic set to the electric set (no setlist spoilers for now). The keys player on the right was pretty good too (took a great vocoder solo), sorry can't remember his name. Quote

toneknob Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Yep! Also available in 1/3, 2/3 and half pints! How odd. Other beers available as well at more realistic prices. Yep, just ok for me. I don't want to give away too much at this stage but I think I'm getting past the bass pyrotechnics stage in my advancing years. The longer acoustic bass piece towards the end was really good. (Sorry don't know its name - I'll be listening to the earlier SC solo work later and if I recognise it I'll post the name) Quote

AndyTravis Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Manchester gig was belting. I overdid the beers towards the end. Spent the day in regret mode. He's one hell of a player. Quote
