dasbear69 Posted June 22, 2017 Share Posted June 22, 2017 Hi, Might be a really stupid question but I've just started cleaning the neck of this Trace Elliot Status T Bass SE Edition from 1998 Which looks like it hasn't be cleaned this then I the past I have got a tech to do set ups etc..... Anyway thought I'd give it a go. But have no lemon oil But do have this caron & doucet cutting board oil which contains coconut? Yes Or No??? Thanks Andy. gary mac Posted June 22, 2017 Share Posted June 22, 2017 If the fret board is really grubby, I would clean it with a cloth and lighter fuel. If it's really caked on there then a razor blade/scraper does the trick. Don't know about the cutting board oil, sorry. dyerseve Posted June 22, 2017 Share Posted June 22, 2017 I use 0000 wire wool to clean the fretboard and polish the frets. Mask over the pickups first. Afterwards vacuum the dust off, wipe down with a slightly damp cloth, let dry then use the lemon oil to replenish the oils in the fretboard.
