oldbass Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 Very nice....great to see Chrissie Hynde and good sound apart from the kick drum...ouch. Quote
kevin_lindsay Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 Chrissie has written some fantastic songs, huh? I'm now watching Chris Kristofferson - dear goodness!!! He's well past his best. Quote
PaulWarning Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 just watching it on catch up, I hate overly prominent kick drums, but that sounds ok, snares a bit deep though but nothing I find annoying, Chrissie Hynde must work really hard to look that good at her age Quote
Freddy Le Cragg Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 These Royal Bloods ain't too shabby.... never heard them before Quote
mep Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 (edited) Been on the red button. First Aid Kit where good with excellent vocals some great loud bass by Blossoms Edited June 23, 2017 by mep Quote
Freddy Le Cragg Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 The Lemon Twigs were intrigiuing. A band called Gaffer Tape Sandy on now. I know its early days but the soundmix on pretty much everything has been great, Quote
Hobbayne Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 The keyboard player has missed a few cues and come in late a few times. Still, this is live music, if you want perfection listen to the records. Quote
julesb Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 (edited) Pretenders were great and the drumming was top notch. Really enjoyed first aid kit as well. Edited June 24, 2017 by julesb Quote
bonzodog Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Thought they were great. Chrissies voice is still in great shape especially on hymn to her. Thought lead guitar was a bit loud in mix though. Quote
Mykesbass Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Really enjoying it on iPlayer - proper rock & roll live performance. That's where it is all at for me! Quote
Woodinblack Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Not a pretenders fan, but Impressed at just how close they are to how they were. I suppose she has the advantage of being pretty deep and raspy to start, so her voice hasn't lost anything. Quote
Maude Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Just watching it now. Whilst I can see the point of drum screens, and if it helps on stage sound levels, mic bleed, etc and makes for a better sound then fair play, I really think it looks odd, like the drummer is in the shower or something. Really good performance so far though Quote

I'm guessing he's a pretty big hitter, and wouldn't be surprised if Chrissie Hynde requested (insisted on) it. Tedeschi Trucks Band have drummers and amplification behind screens, but not as tall as this one. Quote
gjones Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Interestingly, the mix for The Pretenders gets better as the gig goes on. Which is usually what happens with live music, as the sound engineer adjusts stuff on the fly. I also notice that the BBC mixes sound better with time (a week or two later). What I suspect is that the raw recordings, for the live videos, are remixed at a later stage. Quote
Freddy Le Cragg Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Pete Townsend used a shield because of his tinnitus Quote

mep Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Cracking set and great sound through my stereo whilst watching it on iplayer. Quote
Cato Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Off topic. Currently watching Katy Perry. As I suspected the band, and especially the bass player are world class. Quote
